Sunny Breakfast

2019

Oil on 27 x 35 cm prefab canvas

There's no doubt I like to paint children. It describes an era in life in which the world is full of wonders, when almost anything is possible and mysterious—and what's best, every single day can be an adventure. With some of my paintings I try to reflect those sentiments.

The girl of this painting is nowadays already a teen and I hear she's quite an artist herself. This painting is based on my own photo of her. Children just love to pose. They look with uninhibited curiousity into the camera. Doing that, even a spoon can be caught midway for many seconds.

The morning light is quite harsh and direct but that is exactly what I like about the photo and what I think has been captured in this painting too.

DONATED.
