As I mention with regard to some paintings, I sometimes find inspiration through movies or TV series. The reference for this photo has been a screencapture but from where, unfortunately I don't recall anymore. Nevertheless, it's only a reference and changed several things about it in my painting. This time my aim was a looser look and I strived for the atmosphere, light and emotion.
Another great inspiration for this has been (once again!) Sting's song of the same title. I hope you'll find a moment to listen to the version (below) from his Symphonicities album—for me it's one of the most beautiful depictions of the bond in a relationship. It is impossible, for sure, to know the exact situation the author has had in mind for their song: is it about someone who's blinded by one's newly inflamed emotions, or is it something more profound? For me, this song describes the depth of someone's infatuation even after all the years. It's not only wild physical desire but equally much something deeply intellectual. Something that is not very fashionable in our cynical and experience-hunting age.
