The departure for this work was to have fun, plain and simple. I also decided that this painting can remain openly naivistic, whereas the emphasis should be on tones and atmosphere. The anticipation of Summer is very concrete now, as of April, and this—I hope—can be seen in the painting's warmth.
Movement is something I would have liked to show even more. The idea is that this a view through particularly dirty windows of a bus, speeding past a city side-street which vibrates from the sun's evening glow.
Dimensions are incorrect, perspective is off, the colours don't blend neatly. Despite all that, I'm really pleased that I didn't continue finessing those.
