Sky Art channel has two wonderful shows running already for many years, Portrait (and Landscape) Artist of the Year. The true challenge in these competition arises from the rigid timeframe of four hours in which one has to complete their artwork. That's a very tight schedule using any artistic means. I've enjoyed watching these shows (on Youtube) and I've also picked up this challenge for two of my earlier paintings. Blind Toward What's Going On and Sorrow Bird are such experiments. I didn't quite keep within the timeframe with the previous one but managed well with the latter.

This painting also started with that challenge in mind. Otherwise I would have made it but had to continue for two hours the next day because I wanted to completely change the hair. The end result of the interplay between light and curtain came out just as intended, so I'm pleased with the work. This "blue moment" looks good on living room ceiling without being overly obtrusive.
