Oil painting on 27 x 35 cm prefab canvas, ready to hang

This painting is the first so-called still life indoors that I've made, although I've done a few outdoors. The idea was to capture the essence of these ragged canvas shoes but making them more plain, "generic". I loved these inexpensive shoes and wore them until they practically fell apart. As I painted they were placed on my table, so the background is completely fictional. It was a nice process and I can imagine doing something similar again.

This work was already published on my social media accounts before but then I found the background too mute that I wanted to replace it with terracotta tiles which I love. Therefore, with added time, the work became my first painting of 2025.

I'm soon adding a tutorial video on my Youtube channel on this still life process, with a particular emphasis on how to break free and be more creative. I'll add the link here and in the menu item "Media" later.
