Oil colour on 37 x 46 cm prefab canvas.
Seeing the original photo of this painting's commissioner got quite worried. It was so fascinating that I wondered whether I could be upto the task and even try. The most troublesome element was obviously the light and mist but also the gliding tones of the water proved a challenge.
My version doesn't do full justice to the photo but I'm glad the commissioner was satisfied. This was an educating piece in many respects: technically and with respect to seeing/perceiving and patience. My thanks go to the commissioner for her trust. It is a big thing to fully understand that in the source photo there's something very dear and important to someone and then to get this kind of position of trust.
