The Shy One

Close to the little town of Loviisa (in Finland) I found this big field where a few horse families were enjoying their summerday. I took many photos of them and this one with the shy colt trying to hide beside her mother pleased me the most. It also felt like a nice painting challenge to try reproduce this baby hair. On the other hand, I decided not to wallow in detail too much and thus I left the mother's mane quite unfinished—even more so with the grass.

I can imagine myself painting a lot more animals in the future and I've also gotten commissions on them.
